Hey, designers of things: Don't make a release button that has to be pushed in the opposite direction of the detachment action itself, mkay?
why would you want the battery to drop if the release is pushed by mistake, e.g. on a ladder, in a cramped space &c.?

@jwcph you know, I actually like this design. You can't easily push the release without holding the other side, which means you're forced to grip the battery before removing it. It also prevents accidental release (eg. in a toolbox) and is a great example of a poka-yoke (from the Japanese baka-yoke, or 'stupid prevention'.)
I aspire to this level of good work.
